Green Beans and Puppies

Last week when Lily turned 5 months old we started giving her rice cereal. At first she wasnt too sure about it and spit out whatever went in. After continuing to work with her every day she finally got the hang of it and loves it! Well today we started with some green beans. I was almost positive she would not like them and would spit them back at me in disgust. The first bite she wasnt too sure about but the next couple she decided they werent that bad. She was so precious eating them and of course being the picture crazed mom I am I took lots of pictures. Hopefully she'll continue to like them as much as she did today and later this week we'll try some carrots or squash. Every morning when she wakes up something about her has changed and she's grown up a different way each day. I can't believe she's old enough to be eating baby food, it makes me sad and happy all at the same time. Scroll down for pictures of Lily's first experience with green beans, its sure to make you smile :)

Jordan's family has a full bred golden retriever named Max that is roughly 115 to 120 pounds. He's right around 9 years old but has the spirit and personality of a 1-2 year old puppy. He is a gorgeous dark golden and would make beautiful puppies. He's never been bred and hasnt been nutered.  Jordan's parents moved in to an amazingly gorgeous house on Eagle Mountain Lake a few weeks ago. They don't have a fence and they have stickers all over their backyard so Max has come to live with us until they get those things fixed, which I wouldn't mind him staying but he's missed terribly.  So to get to my point, if anybody has or knows someone that has a female golden retriever that they would be interested in possibly breeding with Max please please please let me know!! Here are a few pictures of him.

I'm a diehard Dallas Cowboys fans but the coaching staff needs some serious help!
The Baylor Bears are 5-2, if they win another game they'll be eligible for a bowl game!! Sic 'Em Bears!!!

PS: I'm REALLY loving this blogging thing!!

Blood and Guts Galore

trau·ma[trou-muh, traw-] -noun: a body wound or shock
produced by sudden physical injury, as from violence or accident.

Ever since my sister Tiffany was in a car accident in 2001 and suffered a traumatic brain injury, I saw all the things that went on in the ICU she was in and my career focus became to work in a Surgical Trauma ICU. After I graduated from nursing school in 2008 I went to work in an ICU of the very type. I absolutely loved it, I enjoyed going to work and craved the adrenaline rush I got at work. A year and a half later I could barely take the tragedy and death I saw on a daily basis when the doctors and nurses including myself were helpless and it began to break me down inside to the point that I couldnt stand going to work anymore. So I decided it was time for a change to a different type of ICU, something a little more I guess you could say low key, to a Cardiac Care Unit. Don't get me wrong working with patients who just about at any moment could lose their heartbeat and code, which is an adrenalie rush in itself. Until you've taken care of a patient with a gunshot wound to their chest and is bleeding out so quickly that you have to crack their chest open and rush them to the operating room to try and save their lives, a code will never be enough of an adrenaline rush. I miss that, I guess you could save I crave it and sometimes it consumes my mind. Taking care of patients at the acuity level that I do is hard work and can be just as intensive as they are in all ICU's. I've come to the realization that a vast majority of patients that come to the ICU are on death's doorstep and need to be cared for just like someone that isnt and in all situations death and tragedy are heartbreaking but I was meant to be a nurse, to help save lives and further God's kingdom while doing so and that not every single patient can be saved but I better give it my all every time I'm at work because you never know when you can make a difference in someone's life. I'm working on switching over to a Trauma ICU at one of the other hosptials around where I work now. If its in God's plan something will work out, if not then I guess there's nothing I can do about it. After reading through this blog it seems sort of dark because I like blood and guts but everyone thrives on something that involves their careers or else they wouldnt have chosen it as a career path. I love being a nurse and couldnt imagine doing anything else for a living. I'm just happy to be doing something that I love and that's caring for others.

On a happy note, the Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankess today 7-2 at The Ballpark in Arlington once again making history for their team. I can't wait to watch the future games. Go Rangers!!!

Have a wonderful night!! xoxo :)

Growing, growing, growing

So this is my first time to ever blog so bear with me. I've decided to start a blog so that I can have somewhere to keep those we dont see on a regular basis up to date on Lily, how much our family is growing and changing on a daily basis and a way to just get things off my chest. I'm not really sure I have much to say or anything important to write but oh well! Hope you enjoy!

Lily is now 5 months old and continues to amaze me on a daily basis! Within a few days of eachother she got her first two bottom teeth, she rolls over, says dada and talks non stop, sleeps through the night and almost sits up all on her own. I can't believe how much she's changed in only 5 months. She went from being a quiet, sweet baby to being this loud, happy, energizer baby that at times i barely recognize. We love her so much and couldnt ask for a more perfect angel, we are truly blessed!

On sunday 10/10/10 we were able to go to the Rangers v Rays postseason game 4 in a suite thanks to Jordan's cousin Cara. It was so much fun and an experience we'll NEVER forget! too bad we lost but way to go Rangers on a first ever postseason series win! How awesome history has been made by the Texas Rangers, who da thunk it?!?! I'm excited to see what happens when they play the Yankee starting this Friday. Go Rangers!!!

Guess I dont have much more to say and I'm not sure i'm really even blogging, just a bunch of rambling! Here are a few 5 month old birthday pics. Enjoy!
xoxo :)
